AYC ACD pump repair

Active differential systems are used to transfer the driving force between the wheels of the vehicle. Based on the measurement of centrifugal force, wheel speed, steering wheel position and throttle position, the control computer decides which wheels are to receive more force and which less force. Thanks to this, we gain control over the vehicle in all driving conditions, even in a drift. These systems can be found, among others, in Mitsubishi (AYD / ACD system), Audi, BMW or Lexus. The vital component is a steering pump equipped with special solenoid valves. The pump generates and distributes the necessary hydraulic pressure to the individual wheels or axles.

The steering pumps are exposed to environmental factors due to their location under the floor of the car. Continuous contact with water and salt causes corrosion which leads to jamming of the pump and problems with a the drive mechanism. Usually, the only solution is to replace the entire component with a new one, which is associated with very high costs.
